Show Date: November 7, 8, & 9
Performance Venue: Live in Richardson, TX at The Core Theater
Rehearsals: Tuesday nights for 6 weeks leading up to opening with 1 week of tech in evenings. Additional rehearsals as needed may arise.
Pay: Profit split of concessions.
WHO WE WANT (AND WHO WE DON’T):
We’re seeking female and non-binary actors of any ethnicity and BIPOC male actors. Must have comedy chops, live performance energy, and a dark sense of humor that your grandma would NOT appreciate. If you've ever been told you're "too much" for church, but just right for Twitter before 2018... welcome home.
NOTE: If your idea of edgy humor is yelling “Let’s go Brandon” into a Monster can — this is probably not your show. Try The Apprentice: Community Theater Edition instead.
WHAT WE DO:
We’re Folding Chairs Comedy, Dallas' SNL-style sketch comedy troupe with no budget, no chill, and no intention of being politically neutral. We write and perform original sketch comedy — think live SNL, but with fewer Lorne Michaels and more group texts at 3AM. Our show for October is called “Let’s Get Cancelled”, because we’re taking the kind of risks that might make your HR rep sweat. If you've got something to say — funny, biting, and smart — we want to hear it. Now get in here before we run out of folding chairs.
AUDITIONS:

Bonus points if you can do impressions, write sketch ideas, or have a strong opinion on which season of SNL was actually the best. Feel free to shoot and submit video of any original characters, impressions, accents, or singing/musical instrument ability you have.
THE VIBE:
If your comedy is a mix of: Dad jokes SNL-style absurdity, Hot takes that are almost career-ending, Cultural commentary spicier than a Popeye’s sandwich
...then we want you in the room. But again, we’re only seeking all POC gender identities and open ethnicity female-identifying actors.
How to Submit
We will reach out with an offer to actors we want to cast. You will not get a confirmation, callback, or rejection email after submitting. If you submit, you’re in our database!
Pick two contrasting sketches from the scripts found here. We don’t care which characters you pick or if your gender-identity matches the written character. Do whichever you think you can do best and make bold choices!
(It doesn’t need to be memorized but we do ask you still make strong choices and perform it to the best of your ability even if you have the paper in your hand.)
